Good bye and New begining.

Frankly say, I hated writing Korean or English whatever. That's why I attend this class to improve writing skills. I'm very satisfied this class and highly recommend to other students.
Also I'm really appreciate that Hunter's teaching.

Now, the last semester is almost over.

Blog Post #9 - Summary & Response / Citation

K-pop fuels interest in Korean language.

Summary

Prof. Sohn Ho-min is teaching Korean at the University of Hawaii. When he started teach Korean, only 30 students attended the class. But now 480 students are attending. Because they are listening K-pop and Korea cultures. “The popularity of K-pop is unbelievable and if that’s what gets the students to step into the classroom, that’s great for me,” (Noh Hyungi, 2011)

Linguistically speaking, Korean is difficult languages for English speakers to learn. Also two languages have absolutely nothing in common.

However, people are still interested in Korean drama and k-pop so they want to learn Korean

I’m very proud of Korean I thought one of excellent language. I know it is not easy to learn for English speaker. I think we would publish easier books than before.

Blog Post #8 - Volkswagen Golf and Hyundai Avante

 Recently, look at the sales number of cars, Volkswagen Golf and Hyundai Avante those two cars are very excellent in sales

The Volkswagen Golf and the Hyundai Avante are very popular in each country and called peoples car. But, I prefer to Avante.

 These cars are the top best-selling car in each country German and Korea. Cars perform high quality with reasonable price. Two cars both are small and similar size, low taxes and maintenance costs accordingly low price compare with other cars

 Golf with a diesel, when you drive Golf the noise is louder than gasoline engines. However using a gasoline engine Avante is very quiet in operation. Golf is more expensive than Avate and difficult to obtain in domestic service. Golf's interior is elegant but, Avante of the interior is decorated with many accessory.

 As a result, You should purchase Avante in Korea, if you are in Korea. Hyundai's service centers across the country in Korea to get service easily, Replace parts are cheaper than other imported cars.

I really enjoy traveling. I have visited many cities but among those I was shocked in Guatemala and Mexico. I have been to several cities in Guatemala include Quetzatenango as you read the book last class. One of my friends said that the beer corona is very cheap just 50 cents that’s why I decided to go Guatemala and Merida in Mexico there is one of the seven wanders. Guatemala and Mexico both are colonial cities. There are colorful beautiful buildings. The people were enjoying slow life.

But there are differences such as climate, environment, food, culture, tourist attractions.

First tourism system is different. It you walk on street many people approach to you and try to talk with you in English. They introduce package programs or tour. But you should be careful because usually more expensive than travel agency. Also you have to compare the price each agency. In Mexico, you only need map which are marked the famous places. You can save money.

Second they have different climate.

Guatemala, there are many of the volcanoes and mountain areas, accordingly there are many lakes. The coast, Guatemalan farm mainly tropical fruits and coffee plant because a lot of rain falls. Mexico is very different from the topography of the eastern and western mountain areas mainly east and west. Temperatures are very intense and represents a year-round warm climate

Third, they have different cultural background
Guatemala is the heart of the Inca ancient civilization, especially the Tikal area is very popular. Size is too large to continue even now being excavated. Inca and Aztec civilization co-exist in Mexico. The northern part of Mexico, the Aztec civilization and the southern side has the Incas.
Everything is great monuments.

Both two countries are so impressed. Both have wonderful ancient culture. People are so kind.

Blog Post #6 - Korean education (con)

Korean education has some problems. You also remember when you were in middle and high school. Maybe you studied late night because your school pushed you couldn’t go home. Yes that is normal in Korea’s school. I don’t know exactly why we strongly obsess about education. Too much education fee and competition I think that is wrong.

But the other hands some people say it brings advantages.

Obsession improves the education level of South Korea. As you know, Korea’s education has been already achieved high performance superior to the other industrialized countries. Because of it called Korea’s customized training system

Also students can learn at an early age to compete. We live in war. Someday students will learn that it is competitive. Previous learning is not really a bad thing.

Look at this, Obsession has been always for education in Korea is not the only bad thing.

Blog Post #5 - Korean education problem

Korean education has some problems. You also remember when you were in middle and high school. Maybe you studied late night because your school pushed you couldn’t go home. Yes that is normal in Korea’s school. I don’t know exactly why we strongly obsess about education. Too much education fee and competition I think that is wrong.

First of all their parents ignore their kids’ characteristic and personality. There are some talented kids. The boy wanted to be a musician, but their parents want their children to be doctor and lawyer. Because of revenue is much more than musician.
This tells you that students just have done study with their parents’ purpose so that they have lived to regret the way.

Second, Korean education has primarily focused on students enter college like prestigious colleges in Seoul. They think that college can guarantee many things such as high social status, decent jobs, financial stability, and a rich and easy life. So they pay lots of money for private tutoring education to enter the colleges. Sometimes families move to certain neighborhoods for better educational conditions. So debt is increasing.

So, what should Korean society do to resolve these problems? Firstly, our society needs to change thinking of children. They are not possessions. We help them to go their own way.

Secondly, job opportunities should be open to every college.

Blog Post #4 - A Short Personal Story (Accident in Mexico)

  I was struck by Mexican. It was last year on November when I was on trip in Guatemala and Mexico.

I was in San Cristobal one of city located south west Mexico. There is kind plateau area so it was very cold in night time and it was very hot in afternoon that's why I got a cold.

But what's the big deal? I enjoyed everything even I took a medicine.

It was totally exotic such as vivid colored low buildings and tacos, friendly Mexican. Everything was fine.

 

  But things are happened when I took a bus to Tulum where is south east Mexico.

I took a luxury bus because every was cheaper Korea. I already said there is plateau area and lot of small mountains. It means thief can hide themselves easily.

when I was sleeping in bus I heard something like stones hit window. I didn't realize our bus shot by gun. Suddenly our bus window was broken and stop at sideway.

Thief came into bus they started steal people's wallet. I sat last seat.

I thought if I was stolen my passport and wallet I will get serious trouble. So I hide my wallet. they got closed to me and say something in Spanish very quickly. I didn't understand what they said. I did'nt react anything then they knew I'm foreign guy. Suddenly they hit me. I scared I gave some money in my pocket.

They went back out of bus. I think they gave up communicate with me.

  Anyway I survived.

I wrote this on internet travel communicate. They said 'You are so luck that's you write this'

This dangerous adventure remain my head forever.

Blog Post #3 - Describe a Setting (Merida)

I've visited Merida in Mexico on Nov 2010. it is located yucatan state south east Mexico. Threre is surrounded Caribbean Sea and Gulf coast. I think there are most beautiful sea in the world. It's called "heart of yucatan" Merida is background for the movie 'Henequén' Korean say "eniggang(애니깽)“ story about labor migration forced by Japan in 1905. Actually. Henequén is kind of plant, main raw of tequila. If you are interested in this story search on web.

The city of Merida is the biggest city in Yucatan peninsula but there are various colored and row buildings with flat roof instead of large building.

All people has a bright smile at me, say hello to rare Asian guy.

The most striking thing is the city's Cathedral. There were also several colored cathedral church.

I was having tacos like main dish. When I ordered whatever they always brough me nacho like Kimchi order food in Korean restaurant.

First time, it was delicious later I got hurt my palate.

There is one of seven wonder in the world that the great Inca pyramid in Chichen-Itza.

Weather was very hot. It took 2 hour by bus from Merida. There is many people because famous place in the world.

Along the long road from the entrance to the pyramid seems very large. Unlike the pyramids of Egypt and the pyramids built up with square bricks.

It was used primarily as a place dedicated to the gods sacrifices.

Including those outside the football stadium and the observatory, but these are difficult for you to explain all.

Blog Post #2 - An Admirable Individual (Steve Jobs)

I guess you have an iphone or ipod or both. These are most popular items in this century. who invent these? Steve Jobs former C.E.O of Apple Inc.

Now I'm gonna explain why I get admired from him.

First I adore his creative ability. I get impessed two times when I use eletronic things for whole my life. First is PSP. Second that is ipod touch invented by Apple Inc.

I remember the moment that when I opened the case of ipod and chaged and then touched the screen. It just was super awesome, amazing. I felt dizzy. What a incredible thing!!

He didn't dispoint me when he released ipod 2nd gen and iphone.

He thought electrostatic touch instead puching button which is very sensitive and quick. also he invented itune program that is very convenient.

Second. He has great sense of running business.

Before He became the chief of Apple. the company has hard time, profits was decreasing. but after he start to run business, profit is increased as inventing a lot of things such as ipod, iphone and macbook. also he run business pretty well.

Third. He is vegetarian.

I tried to be vegetarian once. It was not easy.

I think being vegetarian means you have to be patient through hard time too.

Also it means he has strong self control ability.

That is why I like him

I'm 28 years old. yes quit old. also I'm senior.

Drill Bits

It is cutting tools used to create cylindrical holes.

Snips

They have long handles and long blades.

The usually have extra wide jaws and are made of drop forged carbon steel.

Vise

It has flat, parallel jaws, attached to a workbench.

The jaws are made of soft or hard metal. 

Height Gage

It is a measuring device used for determining the height of something.

It is used in metalworking or metrology to set or measure vertical distances.

File

It is a hand tool which is used for rubbing hard object to make them smooth, sharpe.

Cable Reel

It is a round, drum-shaped object.

It used to carry various types of electrical wires.

Air Duster Gun

It is called air duster gun. 

It is usually to clean or dust delicate items or reach difficult areas

Pressure Feed Oil Gun

It stores oil in bottle. It has a straw.

It can expose oil pushing the handle.

Oil comes out from straw.

Step Block

It consists of two triangular pieces, toothed along the hypotenuse of the triangle.

The blocks can be adjusted to be of varying heigths for the purpose of supporting a clamp.

Hacksaw

It is a fine-tooth saw with a blade under tension in a frame.

It used for cutting materials such as metal or plastics.

Vernier Calipers

It is a device used to measure the distance between two opposing sides of an object.

The tips of the caliper are moving to measure an object.
